New computer
I was thinking about buying a new computer. What do you think about the Dell XPS 420

Dell also lets you tweak the hardware. I tweaked it to this:

PROCESSOR Intel® Processor Q6600 Quad Core™ (2.40GHz, 1066Mhz FSB, 8MB cache)
OPERATING SYSTEM Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium SP1 - English
MONITOR Display Not Included
MEMORY 3072MB 800MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM [2x1024/2x512]
HARD DRIVE 750GB (7200rpm) Serial ATA/100 Hard Drive with 16MB DataBurst™ cache
GRAPHICS CARD 512MB ATI® Radeon® 3870 Graphics card
OPTICAL DRIVE DVD +/- RW Drive (read/write CD & DVD)
KEYBOARD Dell™ Enhanced USB Multimedia Keyboard - UK/Irish (QWERTY)
MOUSE Dell Optical Scroll Premium Mouse
SOUND SOFTWARE Sound Blaster® X-Fi Xtreme Gamer PCI Soundcard

All for just under £700 (including VAT and shipping)

RE: New computer
The only part of my computer that's that good is the sound card. Smile

Is that a coaxial port on the front?

In general Dells aren't are such a rip off (in the UK anyway) so I'd say it looks gud... Im not sure about the performance of using 4 separate ram sticks tho. I'd check up on that.

RE: New computer
I'd say it's seems pretty good although I have seen HPs that are almost as good for less. Do you like HP?

hmm 750GB is very good

i'll proberly split it and dual-boot with Vista and XP

As for the rest of the space i'm going have to reinstall tons of apps and games....

Still i have 1TB on my network drive and its 73% full with stuff i dont need!! LOL time for a format I think

RE: New computer
My advice is sac off the OEM vista and download a decent version of it which has all the microsoft bloat ejected from it.
